Qualification outcomes:
This nationally endorsed qualification addresses the skills and knowledge required to work in residential services, outreach services, individualised support services, employment services, other community and adult training services and individuals' private homes.
Support workers in these settings apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide individualised support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve independence, self reliance and community participation.
These support workers usually report to a supervisor or coordinator and generally work with some direct supervision.
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, participants are expected to be either employed within the disability sector or willing to undertake suitable practical placement.

Program structure:
Compulsory units (9)
Elective units (5 required)

An additional 5 elective units (including one WHS unit ie. CHCWHS312A: Follow WHS safety procedures for direct care work) are required to complete the Certificate III course. These units will be negotiated in line with the students' individual areas of interest and/or their employers' workplace requirements.
Note: By selecting electives drawn from the compulsory units of the Certificate III in Home and Community Care (CHC30308) or Certificate III Aged Care (CHC30212) students may be able to achieve a dual qualification.

Course delivery and pathways:
All courses are part time classroom based.
Training Unlimited also recognises prior learning (RPL/RCC) and Credit Transfer (CT)
Funding:
This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding for eligible students.
This course can be delivered as a Traineeship or on a fee-for-service basis.

Qualification outcomes:
This nationally endorsed qualification addresses the skills and knowledge required to work in residential services, outreach services, individualised support services, employment services, other community and adult training services and individuals' private homes.
Support workers in these settings apply knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide individualised support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve independence, self reliance and community participation.
These support workers generally report to service managers, may work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified workers.
Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, participants are expected to be either employed within the disability sector or willing to undertake suitable practical placement.

Course delivery and pathways:
This program is classroom delivery on a weekly/fortnightly cycle with competency being assessed using a variety of types and settings. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) are available to all students prior to course commencement.

Generally, the learning pathway from this course is into the Diploma of Disability (CHC50108)

Diploma of Disability: CHC50108




Qualification outcomes:
This nationally endorsed qualification addresses the skills and knowledge required for the coordination and management of agencies delivering services to people with a disability.
Workers in this role are usually also involved in service delivery including individualised case management, either direct support work and/or community development projects and have responsibility for the supervision of staff and volunteers.
Prerequisites for this course are either 5 predetermined units from the Certificate IV in Disability (CHC40308) or the applicant must demonstrate sufficient and relevant work experience in the disability sector to indicate likely success at this level of qualification.

Compulsory units (11):
Elective units (5):

Overview of the Dual Certificate Program
This program combines two nationally accredited certificate courses:

Certificate III in Disability (CHC30408) plus
Certificate III in HACC (Home & Community Care - CHC30312)

With the need for care workers skilled in Disability, HACC and Aged Care increasing at a rapid rate, Training Unlimited, in consultation with some of Victoria's largest service providers, has developed this program to meet both the industries needs and expectations and those of the carer.

The course is typically offered as a classroom based program, with workplace assessments where appropriate. However, we can develop a delivery plan to suit your needs whilst meeting assessment objectives.

Training Unlimited welcomes input from employers as we can incorporate elements specific to your organisation. Many clients have used this program to support ongoing workplace projects.


  • Please note: Graduates of this program may then choose to complete the Cert. IV in Disability - CHC40312
