Certificate III in Home & Community Care (CHC30312)




This certificate level is generally regarded as the standard required to operate as a personal care worker in a home care environment.
Topics covered in the course may include:
  • Orientation to aged care work
  • Orientation to disability care work
  • Occupational Health & Safety
  • Communicating appropriately with clients/colleagues
  • Processing and providing information
  • Participating in the aged care environment
  • Delivering and monitoring services to clients
  • Providing care and support
  • Advocating on behalf of clients
  • Assisting with aged peoples personal needs
  • Operating under a case work framework

    This can be purchased online. Price approx. $86.00

    Funding:
    This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding for eligible students.
    This course can be delivered as a Traineeship or on a fee-for-service basis.

    Certificate III in Aged Care (CHC30212)




    Qualification outcomes:
    This nationally endorsed qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans.
    These workers carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in an aged care setting
    These activities are related to an individualised plan and workers report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.
    Whilst there are no prerequisites for this course, participants are expected to be either employed within the Aged Care sector or willing to undertake suitable practical placement.

    Program structure:
    Compulsory units (10):

    Elective units (4 required):
    An additional 4 elective units are required to complete the Certificate III course. These units will be negotiated in line with the students' individual areas of interest and/or their employers' workplace requirements.

    Note: By selecting electives drawn from the compulsory units of the Certificate III in Home and Community Care (CHC30312), students may be able to achieve a dual qualification.

    Participants are expected to be either employed within the Aged Care sector or willing to undertake suitable practical experience/placement. In addition, a current police check, first aid certificate may be required for work placement. Students undertaking this qualification will also be required to complete practical work placement of:
    *Aged Care Environment (low care): Minimum 60 hours
    *Aged Care Environment (high care): Minimum 60 hours


    Work Placement is to be arranged by the student, however assistance can be provided by Training Unlimited if required.


    Course delivery and pathways:
    This program is generally classroom delivery on a weekly/fortnightly cycle with competency being assessed using a variety of types and settings. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) are available to all students prior to course commencement.
    Training is conducted at one of Training Unlimited's campuses in the east or north of Melbourne or on-site for groups of 10 or more.
    Generally, the learning pathway from this course is into one of various Certificate IV programs.
