PaTH Program

Youth Jobs PaTH Program

Youth Jobs PaTH is a flexible and new approach to youth employment. It is specifically designed to:

  • support young people to gain the skills and work experience needed to get and keep a job.
  • support employers and reward them with incentives to host internship placements

This initiative is for people between the age of 18-24 and is a national program available in any State or Territory in Australia. It is a great way of introducing young people to new industry experiences and provides an avenue for them to gain knowledge and practical skills to enable them to complete their internship component.

The employer is a ‘Host employer” for a student to have real-life work experience. Through this process the student is ‘buddied’ with an employee and as a mentor, they will teach, guide and support the studentwhilst at work providing feedback on progress.

The internship trials for between 4 and 12 weeks depending on both the student and host employer needs. The student receives fortnightly benefits paid by the government in lieu of employer remuneration throughout this period, and the employer receives an upfront payment of $1000 to cover any associated costs with hosting a student. All students are covered by insurance that is paid for by the Government through the Department of Jobs and Small Business.

Here is some footage from our recent Pathway Hospitality course run out of Melb CBD, we had some great success stories and outcomes out of this group.
