Training Program

Students will undertake their learning and assessments over 1 Day Face-to-Face Practical & Online Learning Prior. Please note the following important course considerations:

  • All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training.
  • Students require a USI number to complete the course. Apply for a USI or find your number at https://www.usi.gov.au.
  • A sandwich lunch is included on the face-to-face practical day. Please email us at info@trainingunlimited.com.au if you have any dietary requirements.
  • Due to Food Safety Supervisor being a Government Initiative, students will have to complete ALL training hours required. Insufficient ID and being over 10 minutes late (including from lunch breaks) will automatically deem the student ineligible to start the course on that date. Students will need to contact our office to rebook and process any relevant rescheduling fee in line with our policy.

Food Safety Supervisor Entry Requirements

To enrol in the Safe Food Handling Level 1 & Level 2, the following requirements need to be met -

  • English Proficiency - You must have with suitable skills in language, numeracy and literacy for a Certificate III level course. See more information at https://www.aqf.edu.au/aqf-levels
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI) - You will need to provide your USI number. If you don't have one, you can apply for it online.
  • Technical Requirements - You will need access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.
  • Online Pre-Study - Complete the pre-study prior to the face-to-face session.
  • Eligible Visas - The subsidised training fee of $81 applies to the eligible visas listed below (for all other participants, the course fee is $162) -

Food Safety Supervisor Course Pre-requisites

  • All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training and students require a USI number to start their training.

Online Pre-study Requirements

Prior to attending your Food Safety Supervisor course you will need to complete the Food Handler Basics course, a free, non-accredited, online training course developed by the Food Authority.

Complete Pre-Study

Once you have completed the Food Handler Basics course, please ensure you provide Training Unlimited with a copy of your certificate. This certificate is required for us to issue you with your Food Safety Supervisor statement of attainment.

How to provide your Food Handler Basics course certificate:

  • Email a soft copy to info@trainingunlimited.com.au and cc your Learning and Development (L&D) Manager.
  • Bring a printed copy to your face-to-face session and provide to your Trainer on the day.

Food Safety Supervisor Assessment

Within the online learning and practical day, students will be required to complete multiple choice questions, short answer questions and a practical assessment in English. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills throughout the course to deem them competent across the units.

There are 3 components to this Food Safety Supervisor program:

  • Theoretical training online (Multiple Choice & Short Answer)
  • Practical training in the kitchen (preparing food at our venue)
  • Assessment for both knowledge and skills

This Food Safety Supervisor course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills.

Assessments MUST be completed in English and with no further assistance. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office on info@trainingunlimited.com.au to discuss your training needs.

If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the Food Safety Supervisor course paying the full fee amount.

Food Safety Supervisor Certification

Once successfully completed, students will be awarded the nationally accredited units of competency SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices.

Certificates are issued by Training Unlimited Pty Ltd (RTO ID 20891).

Paul’s culinary career began in some of London’s most prestigious establishments, including The Dorchester, where he worked as a Chef de Partie under renowned chef Anton Mosimann, followed by a role as Sous Chef at The Savoy under Anton Edelmann. Paul’s passion for hospitality later led him to establish and operate his own award-winning restaurant in the heart of Stratford Upon Avon, England.

After relocating to Australia in 2007, Paul expanded his professional expertise by obtaining their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and moving into New Product Development. In this role, Paul developed and launched innovative food concepts and dishes for major Australian supermarket brands, combining his culinary expertise with a strong understanding of food production and consumer expectations.

While Paul’s career has taken him across many areas of the food industry, teaching has always remained a true passion.
