Training Program
Students will undertake their learning and assessments over 8 hours plus online pre-study. Please note the following important course considerations:
- All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training.
- Students require a USI number to complete the course. Apply for a USI or find your number at https://www.usi.gov.au.
- Free lunch is included.
- Due to Food Safety Supervisor being a Government Initiative, students will have to complete ALL training hours required. Insufficient ID and being over 10 minutes late (including from lunch breaks) will automatically deem the student ineligible to start the course on that date. Students will need to contact our office to rebook and process any relevant rescheduling fee in line with our policy.
Food Safety Supervisor Certification
Once successfully completed, students will be awarded the nationally accredited qualification SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices.
Certificates are issued by Training Unlimited Pty Ltd (RTO ID 20891).

Online Pre-study Requirements
Prior to attending your Food Safety Supervisor course you will need to complete the Food Handler Basics course, a free, non-accredited, online training course developed by the Food Authority.
Complete Pre-StudyOnce you have completed the Food Handler Basics course, please ensure you provide Training Unlimited with a copy of your certificate. This certificate is required for us to issue you with your Food Safety Supervisor statement of attainment.
How to provide your Food Handler Basics course certificate:
- Email a soft copy to info@trainingunlimited.com.au - cc your Learning and Development (L&D) Manager.
- Bring a printed copy to your face to face session and provide to your Trainer on the day.
Food Safety Supervisor Entry Requirements
To enrol in the Safe Food Handling Level 1 & Level 2, the following requirements need to be met -
- English Proficiency - You must have with suitable skills in language, numeracy and literacy for a Certificate III level course. See more information at https://www.aqf.edu.au/aqf-levels
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) - You will need to provide your USI number. If you don't have one, you can apply for it online.
- Technical Requirements - You will need access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

Food Safety Supervisor Course Pre-requisites
- All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training and students require a USI number to start their training.
Food Safety Supervisor Assessment
Within the 8 hours plus online pre-study of the accredited course, students will be required to complete multiple choice questions, short answer questions and a practical assessment in English throughout the day. Students will receive a lunch break which is not included in the 8 hours plus online pre-study and will be permitted to eat the food prepared in class. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills throughout the course to deem them competent across the units.
There are 3 components to this Food Safety Supervisor program:
- Theoretical training in the classroom (Multiple Choice & Short Answer)
- Practical training in the kitchen (preparing food at our venue)
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills
This Food Safety Supervisor course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills.
Assessments MUST be completed in English and with no further assistance. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office on info@trainingunlimited.com.au to discuss your training needs.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the Food Safety Supervisor course at a $50 NYC Fee.
