Training Program
Students will undertake their learning and assessments over 8 hours practical and 8 hours virtual class online. Please note the following important course considerations:
- All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training.
- Students require a USI number to complete the course. Apply for a USI or find your number at https://www.usi.gov.au.
- Free lunch is included. Students make either sausage rolls, pizza, sushi or dumplings for lunch. Please email us at info@trainingunlimited.com.au if you have any dietary requirements.
- Due to Food Safety Supervisor being a Government Initiative, students will have to complete ALL training hours required. Insufficient ID and being over 10 minutes late (including from lunch breaks) will automatically deem the student ineligible to start the course on that date. Students will need to contact our office to rebook and process any relevant rescheduling fee in line with our policy.

Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set Entry Requirements
To enrol in the Safe Food Handling Level 1 & Level 2, the following requirements need to be met -
- English Proficiency - You must have with suitable skills in language, numeracy and literacy for a Certificate III level course. See more information at https://www.aqf.edu.au/aqf-levels
- Unique Student Identifier (USI) - You will need to provide your USI number. If you don't have one, you can apply for it online.
- Technical Requirements - You will need access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.
- Online Pre-Study - Complete the pre-study prior to the face-to-face session.

Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set Course Pre-requisites
- All students must have valid photo ID on the day of training and students require a USI number to start their training.
- Students must bring their own laptop or computer device to complete the online theory and assessment component.
Virtual Classroom Requirements
Students must have their own laptop or computer device to complete the virtual class, online theory and assessments. Mobile phones are not suitable. Please ensure your device is fully charged and that you know your login details before the class commences.
Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set Assessment
Within the 16 hours, students will be required to complete multiple choice questions, short answer questions and a practical assessment in English throughout the day. Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills throughout the course to deem them competent across the units.
There are 3 components to this Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set program:
- Theoretical training in the classroom (Multiple Choice & Short Answer)
- Practical training in the kitchen (preparing food at our venue)
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills
This Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills.
Assessments MUST be completed in English and with no further assistance. If you believe you will need assistance due to your Language, Literacy or Numeracy skills, please contact our office on info@trainingunlimited.com.au to discuss your training needs.
If a student is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set course paying the full fee amount.
Food Safety Supervisor Skill Set Certification
Once successfully completed, students will be awarded the nationally accredited units of competency SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices.
Certificates are issued by Training Unlimited Pty Ltd (RTO ID 20891).

Paul’s culinary career began in some of London’s most prestigious establishments, including The Dorchester, where he worked as a Chef de Partie under renowned chef Anton Mosimann, followed by a role as Sous Chef at The Savoy under Anton Edelmann. Paul’s passion for hospitality later led him to establish and operate his own award-winning restaurant in the heart of Stratford Upon Avon, England.
After relocating to Australia in 2007, Paul expanded his professional expertise by obtaining their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and moving into New Product Development. In this role, Paul developed and launched innovative food concepts and dishes for major Australian supermarket brands, combining his culinary expertise with a strong understanding of food production and consumer expectations.
While Paul’s career has taken him across many areas of the food industry, teaching has always remained a true passion. This led Paul back into vocational education and training, where he now enjoys sharing his extensive industry experience and practical knowledge with the next generation of hospitality professionals.

As this course includes two national recognised units of competency, the charges are in line with the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s VET fees and Charges Policy 2025 (Version 1.0).
